When daylight savings time is kept, the times of tide and current calculations must be adjusted. How can this be accomplished?
• Time Zone and Standard Meridian used in tide/current tables • How Daylight Saving Time (DST) shifts clock time relative to standard time • Difference between reference stations and subordinate stations in tide/current tables
• Ask yourself: Are the times printed in the tide/current tables based on standard time or daylight saving time? • Think about what actually changes when we go to daylight saving time: do the tables change, or does just the clock on the wall change? • Consider whether any correction should be applied to all stations, only reference stations, or only subordinate stations.
• Verify whether tide and current tables are published in standard time or daylight saving time for the whole year. • Check if any note in the tables says that the user must make an adjustment when DST is in effect. • Confirm whether the correction, if needed, would be the same sign (add or subtract) for all listed times in the tables.
