The distributor valves, labeled "A" in the illustration, provide several of the following functions, with the EXCEPTION of __________. See illustration GS-0123.
⢠Distributor valves (A) function in a followāup steering gear system ⢠Relationship between main variable stroke pump, servo (pilot) pump I, and the rams ⢠How a hydraulic lock on the rams is normally achieved (e.g., by check valves or isolating valves), and which components usually perform that job
⢠Trace the flow paths connected to the distributor valves labeled A: which lines go to the main pump, which to the servo pump I, and which to the rams? ⢠For each answer choice, ask yourself: can this function be done by shifting/porting oil through valve A, or would it more likely be done by a different type of valve elsewhere in the system? ⢠Look for symbols near A that indicate directional control, recirculation, or neutral positionsāwhat āmodesā can A place the main system in?
⢠Verify which lines from main variable stroke pump actually pass through the distributor valves A and whether there is a recirculation/neutral path shown. ⢠Check if lines from servo pump I physically connect to A or to some other block (e.g., replenishing or makeāup unit). ⢠Identify which component or symbol in the diagram is clearly responsible for a hydraulic lock on the rams (check valves, shutoff valves, or locking devices) and confirm if that is or is not part of A.
