Oil is supplied to the illustrated steering gear __________. See illustration GS-0116.
• Study how hydraulic pressure oil normally enters a rotary-vane steering gear housing • Compare the labels A, B, J, O, U on the illustration and decide which ones are actual pressure inlets versus covers, clamps, or feedback parts • Remember that high‑pressure steering lines are usually rigid piping into fixed housings, not flex lines into moving parts
• Which labeled points on the drawing are on the fixed housing and look like threaded ports for high‑pressure piping? • Do any of the options describe oil entering through a part that moves with the rudder stock (which would be incorrect for a permanent pressure supply)? • Look closely at "O" and "J" on the drawing: do they appear to be internal galleries/plates or external supply connections?
• Verify which label(s) show an actual external pipe connection on the side of the steering gear housing • Confirm that the chosen location would allow oil to reach the internal pressure chambers shown by the drilled passages and galleries • Eliminate any option that would require flexible hoses to be attached to parts that rotate with the rudder stock, as this is not how this gear is normally supplied
