As shown in figure "A" of the illustrated digital multimeter screen, what would be the significance of the word "LEAd being illuminated (item "15")? See illustration EL-0047.
• Digital multimeter input jacks and which functions they are used for (see section C of the illustration) • The difference between measuring current (mA/A) and measuring voltage/resistance (V/Ω) • Why leaving a test lead in the amps jack while switching to other functions can be dangerous or require a warning
• Look at which selector switch positions (section B) use the 400 mA and 10 A jacks in section C, and think about when the meter would need to remind you to move the red lead. • Ask yourself: in which type of measurement would the wrong jack selection be most likely to blow a fuse or damage the circuit, current measurements or voltage measurements? • Compare the wording of the answer choices and see which one lines up with a warning related specifically to the high‑current input jacks.
• Verify which jack in section C is labeled for V/Ω/diode/continuity and which jacks are labeled for mA and A. • Match the switch positions 6 and 7 in section B to the mA and A jacks in section C, and consider how that relates to a lead warning. • Before choosing, make sure your option clearly describes a warning that appears when the selector switch and lead jack do not match for current measurements.
