• If the meter shows an increase in magnetron current, what does that say about the average power being delivered to the magnetron? • Which of these options would tend to increase electron flow through the magnetron, and which would reduce it? • How does changing the magnetic field strength generally affect magnetron current – does weaker field allow more or fewer electrons to reach the anode?
• Identify which choices would clearly reduce average current (and therefore can be ruled out). • Consider how a change in duty cycle (on-time vs off-time) affects the average current, not just the peak current. • Think about whether a higher B1 voltage or a weaker magnetic field would more naturally lead to greater magnetron current and thus higher meter deflection.
