🔍 Key Concepts

• Barometric pressure trends and what a falling barometer usually suggests • Difference between small/slow pressure changes and large/rapid drops • How mariners relate rate of change in inches of mercury over time to approaching weather systems

💭 Think About

• Calculate how much the pressure changed in total, and then think about whether that is a "rapid" or "gradual" change over 12 hours • Ask yourself: does such a modest change usually signal an immediate severe event, or a more gradual shift in conditions? • Consider which option best matches a slow, slight fall rather than a steep, sudden drop in pressure

✅ Before You Answer

• Verify the total change in pressure (in inches of mercury) and compare it to what is typically considered a rapid fall • Check whether the question mentions very fast timing (like a change in a few hours) versus a half‑day period • Match each choice with the rate of barometric change: which one fits a small, steady decrease over 12 hours?
