🔍 Key Concepts

• Charted 0400 fix from step 6: 37°14.0′N, 75°40.7′W • Use the chart’s charted boundaries and notes at that exact position; distinguish jurisdictional limits from seabed descriptions and activity restrictions • Check which Rules of the Road apply at the plotted location rather than assuming based on the destination

💭 Think About

• At the step 6 fix, what chart features or boundary lines can you identify relative to the vessel’s position? • Which choices require a charted seabed or restriction note, and which can be evaluated by locating the vessel relative to a legal boundary? • Does the charted position place the vessel in a particular navigational rules area, or outside it?

✅ Before You Answer

• Replot or verify the 0400 coordinates from step 6 before evaluating the choices. • Read chart annotations at the fix and confirm any boundary crossing using the chart—not just the general Chesapeake Bay setting. • Avoid treating a depth, bottom type, or fishing/anchoring restriction as established unless the chart marks it at the position.
