What would cause a fuse to blow?
• Fuse function as an overcurrent protection device • Relationship between current, resistance, and voltage (Ohm's Law) • What actually changes in a circuit when resistors are in parallel vs when a motor is stopped
• Think about which option would actually make too much current try to flow through the fuse. • For each choice, ask yourself: does this situation increase current, decrease current, or simply change direction? • Consider whether fuses are designed to respond to direction of current flow or amount of current.
• Identify which option clearly describes current exceeding a safe or rated value. • Check whether reversing current flow alone would damage or blow a fuse under normal circumstances. • Review how total resistance changes when you connect unequal resistors in parallel, and what that does to current.
