What mode of transportation does the IMDGC cover?

Question 1 of 31093

Q

What mode of transportation does the IMDGC cover?

🔍 Key Concepts

• IMDG Code (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) – what type of transport is “maritime”? • Difference between sea transport and other modes (air, rail, road) for dangerous goods regulations • How “international commerce” by sea is regulated for packaged dangerous goods

💭 Think About

• Look at the name: International Maritime Dangerous Goods – what does “maritime” tell you about the transport mode? • Think about which other organizations/regulations cover air (ICAO/IATA), rail, and road transport of dangerous goods. • Ask yourself: does one single code normally regulate all modes of transport, or is each mode covered by its own specific code?

✅ Before You Answer

• Match the word “maritime” to the correct transport mode in the answer choices. • Eliminate any answers that clearly refer to non‑water modes of transport (like airplanes or trains). • Consider whether the IMDG Code is designed for sea-going ships carrying dangerous goods, and pick the option that best reflects that.
