🔍 Key Concepts

• Use the 0930 position established in step 14 and identify the light’s charted characteristic at that position. • Distinguish a light’s color and grouping/period from a more detailed description of the individual flash and eclipse durations. • The deviation table is for magnetic-compass corrections; it does not determine a charted light characteristic.

💭 Think About

• From the 0930 fix in step 14, locate Old Point Comfort Light on Chart 12221TR and read its light description. • Compare the answer choices carefully: does one choice give the detailed flash/eclipsing sequence, and does another provide a shorter notation that may describe the same grouped-flash pattern?

✅ Before You Answer

• Verify the light characteristic from the chart’s charted light notation, not from the deviation table. • Do not assume two notations conflict merely because one gives more timing detail; check whether their grouping and total period agree.
