🔍 Key Concepts

• Each pedestal crane has a rated capacity of 30 tons • In twin mode, two cranes work together on the same load • Manufacturer’s or vessel’s combined-safe-working-load limits may prevent simply doubling the capacity

💭 Think About

• If each crane can safely lift 30 tons alone, what would be the theoretical combined lift if both share the same load equally? • Why might the maximum allowed twin‑lift still be limited by the structure, wires, or pedestal rather than simple addition? • Look closely at the illustration: how many hooks/blocks are sharing the load, and how does that relate to the total safe working load?

✅ Before You Answer

• Verify whether twin mode means both cranes are sharing one common load, not two separate loads • Consider the difference between individual SWL (safe working load) and combined SWL when cranes are used together • Make sure the chosen answer reflects a realistic and safe total for two 30‑ton cranes operating in combination, not an unrealistic multiplication
