Question 1 of 31093

Q

The Master or person-in-charge of an OSV shall insure that each deck from which rescue boats are launched is __________.

🔍 Key Concepts

• OSV (Offshore Supply Vessel) lifesaving appliances requirements in 46 CFR • Safe launching of rescue boats and lifeboats in emergency conditions • What the Master or person-in-charge can directly control about the launching area

💭 Think About

• Think about what is absolutely critical for a rescue boat to be launched quickly and safely in rough conditions. • Ask yourself which option, if neglected, would most directly prevent the rescue boat from actually getting into the water. • Consider whether the regulation is focused on crew organization, access control, or the physical condition/arrangement of the launching deck.

✅ Before You Answer

• Verify in 46 CFR that the requirement is tied to the condition of the deck used for launching, not general safety signage or crew assignments. • Check which option would be required at all times, not only during drills or emergencies. • Make sure the choice you pick directly supports unobstructed, safe launching under emergency conditions.
