🔍 Key Concepts

• Function of a sea anchor (drogue) in survival craft operations • Difference between drift rate and stability/capsize • Primary purpose vs. secondary side benefits of equipment

💭 Think About

• Ask yourself: What is the main job of a sea anchor when it is streamed from a liferaft or lifeboat in heavy weather? • Which option describes an effect that happens directly because the sea anchor creates drag in the water? • Which choices sound like possible side effects, and which one sounds like the primary intended purpose found in survival craft instructions?

✅ Before You Answer

• Verify how a sea anchor/drogue is described in standard survival craft manuals and training materials. • Check which option is most directly related to reducing movement caused by wind and waves, not just improving comfort or visibility. • Eliminate any option that sounds like it guarantees something (like “keep from turning over”) that equipment is not normally allowed to promise absolutely.
