🔍 Key Concepts

• Grades of cargo for petroleum products in tank vessels • Meaning of flash point and Reid vapor pressure in relation to cargo safety • How cargo grades relate to fire/explosion risk, not product quality

💭 Think About

• Which option talks about properties that affect how easily a cargo will ignite or form explosive vapors? • Are grades A, B, C, D, and E more about commercial product quality or about safety and handling requirements? • Look for the choice that clearly connects to why certain petroleum cargos have stricter tankship regulations than others.

✅ Before You Answer

• Identify which answer choice includes flash point or a direct measure of vapor pressure • Eliminate choices that only deal with appearance or commercial quality (like color or general quality level) • Ask: Which set of properties would the Coast Guard care most about when grouping cargos by hazard class on tank vessels?
