BOTH INTERNATIONAL & INLAND Which is the danger signal?
• Navigation Rules – Rule 34 (Maneuvering and Warning Signals) • Difference between fog signals (restricted visibility) and danger/doubt signals • How sound signals change when you are in doubt about another vessel’s actions
• Look at each choice and ask: Is this used in clear visibility for maneuvering/warning, or in restricted visibility (fog)? • Which option is specifically described in the Rules as the signal used when you are "in doubt" as to the other vessel’s intentions or actions? • Which of these signals is associated with distress or attracting attention, rather than routine collision-avoidance warning?
• In Rule 34, find the exact wording of the danger or doubt signal and note the number and character of blasts. • Confirm which signals are listed under fog signals (Rule 35) versus maneuvering and warning signals (Rule 34). • Verify that the true danger signal is used in both International and Inland rules, with the same pattern of blasts.
