• From your plotted 0500 position, which charted features (buoys, contours, shoals) are close enough that a small plotting error would clearly show up? • If you draw the track line between 0445 and 0500, what does the actual line on the chart tell you about CMG compared to any planned course? • Look at Southwest Ledge Shoal: is your 0500 position placing you on a safe side of it, or would a turn to port move you closer to or farther from the danger?

• Double-check the plotted 0500 fix and measure the actual course made good between 0445 and 0500 with your parallel rulers or triangles. • Measure the radial distance and bearing from your 0500 fix to buoy "2A" and compare it with the stated 020°T at 4.8 miles. • Confirm whether your 0500 position is inshore or seaward of the 120 fathom curve by carefully inspecting the nearest depth contour labels.
