What type of signal is coming out on the right side? • Ask yourself: is this block taking one signal and splitting it into many paths (or combining many into one), or is it changing the form of the signal from analog to digital or vice versa? • Compare figure A with figure B: which one clearly shows a digital word becoming an analog voltage at the output?

• Identify whether the labeled Analog Voltage is an input or an output in figure A. • Confirm that the Digital Word in figure A is the grouped arrows on the output side, not the input side. • Verify that a multiplexer/de-multiplexer deals with multiple input/output channels of the same type of signal, not changing between analog and digital formats.
